Will people ever learn, There is no such thing as a best free anything. "Best" & Free" should not even be used in the same sentence with "Anti Virus" All free AV's have security holes. All free AV's have features missing. AVG - No real tim root kit protection. Trojan Mal ware walks right by it. Avast - No heuristic scanning in the free version. There are thousands of infections it will not remove because of it lacking this feature. Also it's boot time scan that everyone seems to brag about. Because of this it's pretty well worthless. Avira - No web guard, Anti drive by. Better than the other two but still not good enough with today's ever changing internet. Pay for your AV. You will be miles ahead of the others and way safer. Get Kaspersky if you can. It ain't cheap but it works. If you can not and all you can do is free. do not expect much. do not get upset when you get infected

I have used Zone Alarm Firewall, I have also got superantispyware and Malwarebytes. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans Hackers etc. I have just changed to Avast antivirus and all seems good so far. Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from download.com / I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site.
